Opening Hymn - 214 - All Glory Laud and Honour
Opening Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer.
One: This is the day that the Lord has made.
ALL: Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
One: Let us pray for all who suffer from political persecution,
from political neglect, from the ongoing effects of Covid.
Let us pray that our political leaders will put the needs of our country and its people before all party considerations.
Let us remember friends who have gone before us and friends who suffer from daily trauma.
Let us celebrate with all who rejoice for special moments in their lives.
Let us give thanks on this Palm Sunday for all of God’s gifts, most specially for the gift of His son, Jesus.
Let us now pray in the words of our holy example, Jesus Christ, as He taught His apostles:
ALL: Our Father who art in heaven…
Lenten Candle Lighting & Liturgy (Betty)
(Reflection during the weeks of Lent, and at all times, offers us rich moments to strengthen our commitment and our faith.)
Palm Sunday: Faithfulness
Reader 1: We are nearing the end of our Lenten journey, and as disciples of our Lord we remember the events of long ago, when the twelve disciples entered Jerusalem with Jesus, but then deserted him a few days later. We remember that in our own lives, when things go well we often know God is with us, but when we are afraid, when we are at risk, we may abandon our faith.
All: We light this candle as a symbol of our trust in Jesus Christ that God will always remain faithful, even when we lack faith.
Prayer: Holy One, you have journeyed with us through the valley of the shadow, and will see us through to the other side. Help us to remain faithful to you, even in times of deepest doubt. Amen.
OFFERING: To follow Co-vid protocol we have placed a collection box in the entrance of the Church.... if you wish to give. Thank you
God of Deliverance, you led your chosen people long ago out of the wilderness and into the Promised Land. Your people rejoiced and worshipped you with the first fruits of their labors. Their contributions were a symbol of devotion to your mighty presence in their lives and in the lives of following generations. Guide our gifts so that they may be multiplied to help those still languishing in the wilderness of uncertainty. Help our giving to inspire others as they journey toward the promise of Eternal Life. Through your holy son, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen. (Deuteronomy 26:1-11)
Hymn - 218 Hosanna Loud Hosanna
Scripture: Acts 4: 32-35
New International VersionThe Believers Share Their Possessions32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. 33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need
Psalm 31: 24
New International Version24 Be strong and take heart,
all you who hope in the Lord.
New International Version37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
New International Version9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
This is the word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God.
* Message: Let Us Spend Time With God *
Hymn - 674 in the bulb there is a flower
Closing Prayer: Psalm 1: 1-3
All: Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither--
whatever they do prospers.
Closing Hymn - 238 Beneath the Cross of Jesus
Now, by the grace of Yahweh, the one God of Moses and all the world, and by the grace of Jesus Christ, the Son who is both one with the Father, and who has enabled us to be one also with Him and with all mankind, I charge you to go back into the world of the 5 senses and to bring with you the love that Jesus decreed, that we love all people as much as He has loved us, and that we forgive all people for their transgressions as He has forgiven us, by the love of God to all His creation. Amen
Amen, Amen, Amen Postlude
Stewart was originally going to preach today but unfortunately came down with Co-vid. So at the last minute Joe agreed to take his place… it takes a lot of work to put a service together let alone without much time… thanks, thanks, thanks JOE!
In Memory of Loved Ones…on Easter Sunday we traditionally bring Easter flowers to Church. Please bring yours. Thank you.
